AUSTIN, Texas – Walmart and Sam’s Club began supplying authorized COVID-19 oral antiviral drugs on December 30, 2021.
The drug is free to eligible patients with a valid prescription from a health care provider. Major health insurance companies will cover the cost of dispensing the drug, but the drug itself is provided by the federal government.
Oral treatments, Paxlovid and Molnupiravir, aim to relieve mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of hospitalization.
Pharmacies inside Walmart and Sam’s Club are asking patients with prescriptions not to enter the store, but to only use the curb and drive options.
