Hockey D155 vs Warriors Hockey Club 27.02.22

We’re back at Edge Ice Arena for the Soft Sixteen of the Blackhawk Cup Combined Playoffs. The defending state champion Warriors Hockey Club is one of those still alive and continuing to defend their state title. Their next opponent is the District One Fifty-Five team who have scored fourteen goals combined in their last two games. This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
First period
We start this fight five minutes later as Jacob Gustaitis’ long pass finds Matthew Dickinson who is on a breakaway and shoots to the low glove side for the games first goal.
Ryan Callahan finds Grady Blessing whose first attempt is saved but gets his own rebound and scores to make it 2-0 Vert et Or in less than two minutes.
Power play time for the Warriors as Callahan finds a wide open Ian Alterkruse who snipes him to make it 3-0.
Second period
The Predators look to generate some offense early in the next period, but Joseph Korpalski’s shot is stopped by the pad of Jack Poidomani who makes two incredible saves at the net to keep the opposition on the dash.
Grady Blessing continues the attack on a breakaway but is tripped by Owen Martinez so the referee awards a penalty shot. It’s time for the free shot as Blessing watches the net, slows down and scores between the goalie’s legs.
It is now time for the Verts et Or to show their overtaking. Evan Ziegler hands the puck to Ryan Burk who goes through the backdoor of Caden Cast and can easily come in. 5-0 The Hockey Club heads for third.
Third period
Third period and the Warriors aren’t slowing down at all. Garrett Clamage is having fun with a nasty slap shot that goes where mom hides the cookies.
The Warriors are on the penalty spot to end the game as Joseph Letto has a shot in front of the net but Poidomani closes the door keeping the goose egg on the board. A 6-0 win helps the Warriors advance to the quarter-finals. For more prep sports highlights, visit the Naperville Sports Weekly page!
