Liverpool’s position will be tested as the club are tipped to launch a cut-price bid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool’s resolve could soon be in question amid claims a Premier League club are keen to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 28, joined Liverpool from Arsenal five years ago. The Reds paid Arsenal £34.2million for the central midfielder, who operated as a winger.
Oxlade-Chamberlain won numerous trophies at Anfield. He has won the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup winners’ medals, among others.
However, the England international doesn’t feature in the biggest games too often. He made 29 appearances last season but only 17 of them came in the Premier League.
liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tends to use him in lesser cup games or when one of his best midfielders is unavailable.
Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago and Naby Keita are all ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Germans’ pecking order. Klopp can also use Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones in central midfield, with fierce competition for places.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract at Liverpool expires next summer. And the team is unlikely to offer him an extension given the other midfielders who are in the squad.
As such, a move before the start of next season makes the most sense. And Oxlade-Chamberlain could be snapped up for a bargain fee due to his contract ending and his last injury setback.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain subject to transfer interest
According to Irish MirrorWest Ham plan to submit a bid for the England international with all 35 caps.
They need reinforcements ahead of another campaign in Europe and believe Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a sensible addition to David Moyes’ squad.
The Irons ‘weigh’ an offer worth just £10m. Accepting that would see Liverpool take a hit of over £20million on the player.
But West Ham could be disappointed in their transfer hunt. That’s because Liverpool want to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain on board for the final year of his contract.
They don’t mind losing him for free in 2023 if it means he will help the team in their quest for more trophies in the 2022-23 campaign.
The depth of the squad has kept the Reds behind Manchester City when it comes to Premier League glory in recent years. But Liverpool now have strength in depth in all positions and don’t want to affect that by letting Oxlade-Chamberlain go.
As such, he will probably make between 10 and 20 outings next season before leaving Merseyside at the end of next season.
And West Ham will be there to offer him a free transfer, unless other clubs join the race.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are willing to pay over £35million for sign a young winger from Athletic Bilbaoaccording to reports in Spain.
