Millbury Women’s Club hosts ‘Thoughts for Pancreatic Cancer’ fundraiser
MILLBURY – Spring is almost here, and so is the Millbury Women’s Club’s Thoughts for Pancreatic Cancer fundraiser.
It’s been 14 years since the club began selling pansies for this cause.
The club is a proud sponsor of the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance, a voluntary organization that operates under the UMass Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
All funds raised support research, patient support, awareness and education. A high-risk pancreatic cancer clinic opened in 2013 with the help of the Alliance.
The APC hopes to continue funding research and trails, in hopes of advancing early detection methods and life expectancy.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death.
Over the years, the club has donated over $20,000 to the Alliance.
Help the club by pre-ordering your pansies selections. The pansies are of high quality, come in a variety of colors and are grown locally.
Availability and costs — apartments (six packs), $3.50; 6.5 jar, $6; ovals, $15; bowls, $20; hangers, $25; planters (spring mix), $30.
Even though the club enjoyed the Town Common, the club will be at the Charles Minney VFW station on Thursday March 31 from 1-5 p.m.
