Norwegian Carlisle United supporters pledge their loyalty to the club

The Norwegian branch of Carlisle United supporters have pledged their loyalty to the Brunton Park club after agreeing to another sponsorship deal.

The branch, formed just over 20 years ago, has recommitted to sponsoring the ball base, which takes center stage as players and officials emerge from the tunnel before each home game.

One of the original members, Pål Meier, said: “We are very happy to sponsor the Blues because the club is in our hearts.

“Our first trip to Brunton Park was at Easter 2004, and we’ve been to Carlisle two or three times a year since.

“The pandemic stopped us for two seasons, and it was a great feeling to be able to come back for the final home game against Stevenage at the end of April.

“We have lots of friends at Carlisle, the club always welcomes us warmly and we love being part of the Carlisle United family.

“We hope to visit Carlisle and Brunton Park for many years to come.”

The branch has already sponsored the club’s minibus, winter clothing for the under-18 team and donated money to help Academy projects and tournaments, bringing their total sponsorship to nearly of £16,000.

Sales assistant Kerry Evans said: “The ball stand was a fantastic idea and it’s such a visible way for the Norwegian branch to show their support for the club.

“Almost from the end of the season they were in touch to see if they could take over the same sponsorship package, and it’s a great way to show their loyalty and support for the Blues.

“Not only will we see the plinth every game, but there will also be an eye-catching floorboard at the side of the pitch.

“We thank Pål and the Flekkefjord branch for their continued support, and we look forward to seeing them at a home game very soon.”
