Students shine at the 2022 Collegiate Club National Championships – Triathlete

It was an action-packed weekend in Lake Lanier, Georgia, as more than 1,000 of the nation’s top collegiate club triathletes competed in the 2022 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships. The event, which included legal draft, Olympic distance, mixed relay and overall team titles, brought together more than 60 collegiate clubs from across the country.

Ben Bettin of the University of Colorado at Boulder and Franca Henseleit of Queens University of Charlotte won the men’s and women’s crowns respectively. Bettin also won the men’s Olympic distance collegiate championship title the following day, with Kathryn Kennedy of the University of California-Berkeley in the women’s championship race. Queens University also took victory in the mixed relay event, led by teammates Tristen Jones, Kira Ribbink, Milan Tomlin and Henseleit, and the overall team title.

In a display of the spirit and creativity of their collegiate club, the University of Wisconsin won both the Spirit Award and the Journey to Nationals competition. The Spirit Award is given annually to the collegiate club that shows the most school pride throughout the event. Journey to Nationals is a competition for collegiate clubs to submit short videos capturing their preparation, qualification and journey to the Collegiate Club National Championships.
