A techno museum was something this world needed for quite some time, but it’s now closer to being a reality thanks to Tresor’s founder Dimitri Hegemann, who revealed a glimpse of his plans.
In November 2015, Hegemann first declared that he would open a museum in Berlin with a focus on techno: “I will call it the Elektronika Living Archives, because techno here in Berlin is still a living, inspiring and lively movement. .
Talk with Star2, Hegemann explained his vision for the new project, explaining how he intends to “convey the feeling” of being engulfed in the dark and immersive atmosphere of Berlin’s basements while listening to techno. A feeling that is lost in many high end super clubs around the world. Hegemann focuses on the raw, grainy nature of the genre and the new museum will seek to embody this aspect of the essence of culture.
“I think of a place where visitors will come in: suddenly it’s dark, the fog machine kicks in, a DJ appears in the distance, a bar rises from the ground, the bass sounds and then the party begins. A museum of the senses for those who do not go clubbing.
It’s still unclear when the museum will open, but Tresor’s 25th anniversary is this year, so it would be appropriate to open it in 2016. What we do know, however, is that according to Mixmag, the museum will be located in the same decommissioned power station that has been the same location for Tresor since 2007. Stay tuned for more news on this upcoming new project.
